How it works
The game
Every day there is one secret word. Guesses are ranked by meaning, not spelling: rank #1 is the word itself, and a rank close to 1 means your guess sits close to it in meaning. Everyone in the world plays the same word, and a new one arrives at midnight Prague time.
Guessing the same word twice never counts against you. A hint gives you a word about halfway between your best guess and the answer. Giving up reveals the word and ends your day.
The auction
Tomorrow's word is sold today. The price opens at $167,772.16 and halves every hour until someone buys, reaching a floor of $1.28. There is no bidding and nobody can outbid you: the first person to buy sets tomorrow's word, and the sale is final.
The word has to be a real, common, safe word that has not been played before — we check while you type. You can add your name, a link and a short line that everyone sees on the day your word runs.
